#5 Color

Color is such an important part of an outfit- be it in abundance or lack there of. An all white or black ensemble can be spiced up with a splash of color in a statement necklace or a great pair of heels. On the flip side, monotone outfits of a great hue are bold and eye catching. Here's a look at what will be on the streets come Fall 2014.

Fashion Snoops is showing rich, Earthy tones in its "Bohemia" forecast for F/W14

Also in the forecasting guru's "Folk" forecast is a mixed palette of soft ballet tones, as I like to call them along with some of those Earth tones

Dolce and Gabana has created these gorgeous mosaic looking dresses, which incorporates the both the Earth and ballet tones in a creating that is out of this world.

Prada: Working Girl

Prada, spring 2014.

I had never really paid much attention to the authors of certain articles in the New York Times until last week. When I read Cathy Horyn's piece on Marc Jacobs' S/S2014 show I connected the writing with a person and was able to understand it on a deeper level. For this reason, I chose to read her write on Maruccia Prada's S/S2014 Milan show. Some of the creative descriptions she used are as follows:

Silhouette/Design
- Sleeveless dresses
- Ribbed leg warmers
- Web sandals
- Box pleated skirts
- Schoolgirlish coats
- Shift shape

Details
- Slap in the face, Cher style                           - Classic Prada
- Strong physical attitude                                - Chunky embroidery
- Sports elements                                             - Femininity, multiplicity, power
- Varsity stripes                                                - Fresh
- Freckled with colored stones                        - Reproduced feminine portraits
- Relatively simple sportswear                        - "Work B*tch" by Britney Spears
- Lavish compositions

Fabric
- Viscose knit
- Wools
- Screen printed viscose knits
- Printed mink

Creative Jargon
- Menacing Paradise
- Transparently muscular attitude
- Intensity of poster art

#3 New York City Street Style

As I combed the streets of New York City for the perfect NYC Street Style outfit, nothing made me go crazy until this one. I walked in to my internship on Monday morning and couldn't help but love our Creative Director, Cecilia's, black and white mash of prints. Black and white is so classic it's hard to do wrong. Throw in a stripe and an aztec print and voila! A super trendy yet original masterpiece. Cecilia doesn't push her style too much. It's so effortless and creative, which I think makes it look that much cooler. It's awesome when you find someone who is naturally and artist and can depict that on oneself. Not to mention, each of her pieces are vintage finds! Even better! I love the idea of vintage shopping and finding great pieces. In my opinion, that's how you create a one of a kind wardrobe.

#2 My Fall 2013 Must Have

I LOVE jeans...almost as much as I love shoes and bathing suits, but that's a different story. When I sat down and thought about what my Number 1 Fall must have was, it came to me like a vision.

Since July I've been lusting over a pair of Rag and Bone ripped boyfriend jeans. I couldn't believe that I didn't own a pair of these...how perfect are they?! One of the main reasons I feel every girl needs a pair of these in her closet this year is because they are so versatile. Investing in a great pair of denim is always a smart move because (certain) denim is timeless. This is a staple wardrobe piece that you can work with each season to follow the new trends and always look chic.

Rag and Bone Moss with Holes $220.00 (www.ragandbone.com)

Another great thing about this pair of jeans is the light wash denim. You can carry these jeans all throughout the year with you, if you pair it with the right tops. For Fall 2013, I would go with a great textured sweater like this one from Ella Moss $218.00 (www.ellamoss.com).
For those of us who are a little more budget conscious, Urban Outfitters does a great pair in a darker wash. BDG Slim Slouch Camp Indigo $69.00 (www.urbanoutfitters.com)

And of course there's always the splurge piece. For someone looking to spend a little on a great pair of ripped BF jeans, these Current/Elliotts are the way to go. Current/Elliott The Fling $248.00 (www.barneys.com)
