When fashions first came on the scene, they were designed mostly to have buyers come to preview the lines in hopes of having them place an order. In those days, the media was not allowed in these closed shows. Today, fashion shows are all about the publicity and crazy stunts that will grab the media's attention so that they will write about it in their respective media channels. If a buyer wants to preview a lines, they can go to the designer's show room. A NYFW show ticket is a coveted novelty now a days.
Today, fashion designers need to set themselves apart from everyone else to ensure that they are noticed amongst the masses. Here, Marc Jacobs presented his Fall 13 line at NYFW but offered the viewers who couldn't make it to the show a little treat. You were able to log on to a website and have all of your social media accounts on one screen simultaneously as you watched the show. This allowed for maximum blog exposure and for views and fans to pin, tweet, and like their favorite pieces of the iconic American designer's.

This is so true, fashion shows are all about grabbing the attention and standing out in order to be remembered. What Marc Jacobs did was pretty cool, but of course he did it in order to gain exposure! smart of him!
